Triva was founded in January 1946 by the three young sheet metal workers Erling Jensen, Louis Jensen and Aage Andersen as owners and partners. All three were trained at Vølund Smede- og Maskinfabrik, which produces, among other things, industrial machines and works with oiled and corrosion-free sheet metal.
In order to handle the many different tasks, Triva developed its own machines. In addition to the many different forging tasks, a demand arose for the machines that Triva developed. In 1952, Triva launched the first manually operated series of lamella punching machines, which Triva produced itself. They were sold for many years.
With more employees and tasks that were larger and more complicated, Triva gradually grew from being a traditional forge and ventilation company to become a developer of sheet metal products and machine systems for clipping, punching, rolling and finishing them. In 1954 Triva developed the first mechanically run lamella punching machine with quickly replaceable tool units.
In 1957 Triva built and mounted the Brorfelde Observatory Schmidt telescope dome. The observatory was put into service in 1953 and served until 1996 as an active observatory. In DR's Christmas calendar " Poinsettias " from 2012 , plays Brorfelde observatory a major role as the hub of the action.
Triva’s experience with producing thin section material using the rolling system it developed itself led to the production of millions of metres of aluminium sections for the first double-glazed windows in the 60s. Triva carried out external cladding tasks, including the new Copenhagen University Hospital from 1961 to 1962.
During the years of 1966-67, Triva began to develop a steel construction for a moveable partition wall system. The intention was to find a replacement for the traditional fixed veneered/puttied walls. The criteria for the system were that it should be easy to install, stable, but flexible and economic at the same time. Prefabricated panels and fittings must be easy to hang up.
During a period of four to five years, the basic system was developed and adjusted to the complete satisfaction of architects and fitters. Then the system was expanded with more than ten differently designed wall systems, all of which could be combined in numerous ways. Triva’s moveable partition wall systems were ordered by many domestic and foreign architects and construction companies.
During the years around 1975, fire and sound classification ratings were introduced for many different types of walls. Triva gained a great deal of knowledge about fire-rated walls - knowledge that formed the basis for the current large range of sound and fire-rated walls.
After taking over neighbouring land, Triva now covered Industriskellet 12-18. Two additional buildings were built and now there were more than four production and warehouse buildings with adjacent administration.
In 1988 Triplan was introduced as a trademark.
After more than 20 years of being an anonymous sub-supplier of partition walls, Triva transformed itself by marketing its own brand.
For many years Triplan’s office walls were further developed in order to achieve the ability to be quickly and precisely mounted by any craftsman without using expensive special tools. The Nigerian National Petroleum Company chose Triplan office walls for their new headquarters in Lagos. Triplan delivered 10,000 m² of office walls that could be mounted with no problems by local people.
Triplan started the development of a new glass wall, Centura. The intention of the development was to create a new glass partition wall that complies with the most critical fire requirements. A new showroom for Triva GmbH in Düsseldorf, Germany, was also established. Triplan now had permanent showrooms at its disposal in Luxembourg, London, Antwerp, Düsseldorf and Ishøj.
A programme for raw plasterboard was launched. The programme was constantly expanded and Triplan achieved the market’s fastest delivery time and had direct sales to Danish master craftsmen.
Triplan experimented with the development of wall systems that accommodate stringent requirements for ease of mounting, transport and design. Triplan held a successful workshop day, where customers could see the production, showroom and products.
Klaus Groth Larsen was named CEO.
Triplan’s TP Lite full glass wall was now produced in aluminium with a two-piece bottom runner and a 50 mm narrow T-formed aluminium door frame with mitred joints, which easily can be mounted on site.
The reaction of master craftsmen and fitters around the world has been overwhelmingly positive: Very easy to set up and uncomplicated frame mounting. Easy to achieve a handsome finish.
Here, Triplan has a full glass wall solution that accommodates the market’s requirements for design, mounting and prices. Triplan developed a new fire-rated wall system, TP Fire in a slim, elegant steel frame system. At the same time, TP Fire complies with the most stringent requirements regarding fire and aesthetics. Investments were made in automatic saw systems and CNC finishing machines, and Triplan now has a forging department that specialises in the production of TP Fire steel sections and aluminium components.
Triplan introduces new production and inventory management system. We have traceability on certain product groups within a short time and are facing ISO 9001 Quality Management. Our TP series consists with the product TP Acoustic now of both fire, acoustic and full glass walls.
Triplan continously updates the production fascilities. Triplan has modern machinery, including fully automatic roll forming machines and packing machines, robots for vinylizing of plaster boards, processing centres and much more. Triplan is ISO 9001 and EN 1090 certified and has MK approvals on both drywalls and steel loadbearing floor slabs.
To this day, Triplan is still a 100% Danish-owned company with all of its production in Denmark, and Triva/Triplan can celebrate it´s 75th anniversary in 2021.
